Our Cattle
Champion Ranch not only offers our customers cattle that will hold up in all environments but that will also perform to reach maximum profitability. Our goal at Champion Ranch is to utilize all of today’s new technology and the best genetics (new and old) to produce an animal that has the ability to work for commercial customers as well as purebred breeders. Throughout the year we market replacement females, herd bulls, and feeder cattle. As producers, we understand the importance of females that can go out and raise their calves, stay in flesh, and reproduce on a 365 day interval. Our heifers are sorted at weaning and only the top females are kept to be used as replacements. From there, they are kicked to grass and a receive a limited growing ration until they mature into yearlings. At the yearling stage, they are sorted again to make sure they can travel soundly, and have reached their genetic potential, as well as have a sound reproductive tract to ensure that they can breed and birth a calf. Champion Ranch takes pride in our replacement females and have been rewarded with success at the major stock shows in Texas.
We raise our bulls to leave the ranch with some condition and muscle to hold up through a full breeding season without falling apart. Our bulls are brought in at the 205 day mark. They are weighed, vaccinated, and kicked out into weaning traps for 45 days. From there, we bring the bulls in to sort according to the best phenotype, genotype, structural soundness, and performance. The bulls are then put on a growing ration until the 365 day mark. Our feeds are designed to make the bull utilize forage in his diet. This plays an important role in his ability to go out and do his job when he is kicked out during breeding season. To obtain longevity in the cattle business, a producer has to stay on the forefront of the market by utilizing all of the different incentive programs available. This will put more money in your pocket. At Champion Ranch, we plan on staying in the business for the long haul. Success does not come from being satisfied with your current status, but in always looking forward in the direction that is the most efficient and profitable for the needs of the industry.
